Pay Your Bills Online – Save Money and Time!
Have you tried online bill payer yet? What are you waiting for? To date, our members have paid over 12,000 bills totaling $3.9 million! (That's a savings of nearly $5,000 in postage alone.) If you are ready to start paying your bills online then here are a few things you’ll need to know:
Registration
You will need to register before you can start paying bills.
--If you are a current online banking user log into your account and click on the “Billpay” tab in the green menu bar. Choose any option and then read and accept the disclosure. Fill in the account setup information and click Submit. Your registration will be approved within 24 hours and you will receive a Welcome email. Once you receive the email, you can setup your payees and start paying bills.
--If you are not currently using online banking, please call your local branch to setup a PIN. Once you have your PIN, you can follow the instructions above.
- You can only pay bills from a regular checking account. You cannot pay bills from a savings, money market, or lifeline checking account.
- At this time, overdraft protection will not work to cover a bill payment on this system. If there is not enough money in your account to pay the bill, the payment will not go through. The system will attempt the payment 3 more times. If the money is still not available, the payment will show as a pending payment and you will need to either put the payment through again or delete the payment.
- Payments may be made electronically or by paper check, depending on what the payee is setup to accept. You cannot choose the way the payee is paid. Once a payee is paid the first time, the payment type (check or ach) will show up on payment history screen.
- Be sure to leave enough time for your payment to be processed! The Payment Processing Date is the day you would like the payment sent for processing and debited from your account. For electronic payments, the processing date should be at least 3 business days before the due date. For paper checks, allow 5-7 business days before the due date.
- If you are having trouble, you can go to the Help screen, located under the Bill Payer menu. This will bring up Help for whichever page you are on.
NEW Telephone Scam - BEWARE!
7/23/08 - There is a known problem in the area of people receiving phone calls about their ATM and Debit cards. These callers state that there is a problem with the card and give out an 800 number to call to fix the problem. When the 800 number is called, the caller is asked to enter their card number and expiration date.
Do not give out any information if you receive this type of call. This is a phishing scam and in no way affiliated with the credit union. Always be wary of giving out confidential and personal information, especially if you did not initiate contact with the company.
A member reported that someone called them claiming to be an employee of Members Plus. This person said that they were going to deposit money into the member's account and just needed to verify their account number to do so. If you receive this type of call - DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION! Members Plus employees would not ask for your account number - we can access that information at our office. This is a scam and should be reported to the credit union.
Email Scam
1)Please be aware that any email you may receive from CUNA or the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is fraudulent. Do not click on any links in the email or provide any personal information or PINs.
2) If you receive an email from either of these organizations, please do not click on any links in the message. It is not from Members Plus Credit Union, NCUA, or CUNA and clicking on any links could compromise your account information. Remember that the only way to log into your account online is to visit www.memberspluscu.org. |
